Gardens

An hour spent in the garden is like a wonderful tonic.  Walking through the garden I find it hard not to deadhead or pick up a weed.  I sit for a moment and instantly I am jumping up from my seat to tweak the garden.  It is just so therapeutic.  A lovely sunny spring afternoon spent tidying up around the gorgeous spring flowers and foliage is utter joy.  Our damp garden provides perfect conditions for the native bright yellow celandines which carpet many parts of our garden before they disappear until next year.  One of the lovely cultivated varieties we have near to the plum tree is ‘brazen hussy’, found by the late Christopher Lloyd, the beautiful yellow flowers showing up beautifully against the dark foliage.  I’m pleased to say that these cheeky plants are spreading about nicely.
